Departmental Honors

The Geography Honors Program is designed for our major students who are interested in completing a research project with a final thesis paper.

To enter the Honors Program, a student must have at least a 3.5 GPA in the Major and a 3.0 overall GPA. Students must enroll in Geography 198A and 198B in two consecutive quarters and earn grades of A- or better. Students may choose to work with one or two faculty sponsors, and will be awarded honors or highest honors based on the evaluation of the faculty sponsor(s).

Contracts for 198A and 198B may be found via your MyUCLA page - click on contract courses. Contracts must be signed by your faculty advisor and submitted to the Geography Counseling Office in 1255 Bunche Hall by Friday or Week 2.
